Elevators:
How much pit depth do I need?
Pit depths vary for each manufacturer. However, 10” is usually a standard and safe depth to use.
How is the framing different for the rail wall?
The rail wall does have significant framing differences to standard framing, as the wall is the primary support for the loads and reactions of the elevator. Most manufacturers required two sets of doubled 2X12’s or LVL’s (Laminated veneered lumber) going continuously from the pit to the ceiling of the elevator shaft. The distance between them and specifics are different from each manufacturer. Our sales staff would be delighted to provide further information on specifics for your job.
Do I need an inspection?
Residential elevator inspections vary from state to state. For instance, Ohio and Indiana do not require inspections on Home Elevators; whereas Kentucky does.
How long does it take to get the elevator here?
Most manufacturers have a 6-8 week lead time starting from when the measurements are verified and the unit is ordered. Some manufacturers offer the availability to expedite orders.

Stairlifts:
Do I need to do anything special to prepare the home for a stair lift?
An electrical outlet may need to be installed within 6’ of the stair lift by code.
How is the stair lift secured to the home?
The track is fastened to the treads of the stairs.
Will my stair lift operate if the power goes out?
Yes, most stair lifts are battery operated, and will operate even if the power is out.
How much space does a stair lift use?
Most stair lifts have a folding seat, foot rest, and armrests to allow more space on the staircase. Depending on the manufacturer, most stair lifts fold up between 11”-14” from the wall.
Can a stair lift accommodate any user weight?
Stair lifts come in a variety of weight capacities ranging from 265 lbs. up to 600 lbs.

Is a pit required for all vertical platform lifts?
No, not all vertical platform lifts require a pit. There are a few variations based on specific situations. Our staff would gladly assist you in finding out what would work best for your specific situation.
What is the weight capacity of a vertical platform lift?
Most vertical platform lifts boast a 750 pound weight capacity.
Who installs the lift?
To insure our products fully meet the applicable code, we install all of our products for safety and reliability.
Can vertical platform lift be installed outside?
Yes, vertical platform lifts are manufactured for both outdoor and indoor situations. However, for most manufacturers, the units need to be ordered as either an outdoor or indoor unit as there are slight component differences for weather-proofing.
